The hotel felt immediately comfortable on arrival and we were warmly welcomed at reception even though we had been warned and prepared for self check-in. This place is vintage boutique quirkiness and is everything that soulless corporate hotels are not. Home comforts, personable and interesting staff, and every room is unique and decorated with vintage curios and ornaments. The hotel is involved in many valued community projects and the environmentally friendly water recycling project in the gents toilet needs to be seen! The hostess Maggie was an inspiration to us and was a shrine of information and knowledge about the area.

Historic. Nicely curated and furbished. Friendly and welcoming (Alan and Maggie). Relaxed. Room comfy. Great location close to Bot Gardens and huge effort to support local activities and events. Breaky good.

It was wonderful to meet Maggie the owner. Her hospitality was wonderful and she was kind enough to offer a room upgrade without me even asking. I love the vintage vibe of the hotel and the location is exceptional. Highly recommended it. If you stay on the weekends you get live music in the cool room.

I loved the beautiful art/furnishings everywhere, how cozy the beds were, the soap/shampoo/conditioner provided; the delicious homemade marmalades at breakfast; the cookies/tea/coffee available upstairs; and the extremely clean and spacious room and bathroom. Best of all was meeting the owners, who were warm, knowledgeable, and friendly. I felt like I was staying with a close friend and didn’t want to leave!

The quirky paintings and antiques. Very comfortable and relaxing.
