such a unique place. unexpected. good half way stop driving from valencia to duoro valley
It is a very unique place. Feels like a Parador but it actually isn't. You are in a place of religious significance, peaceful, austere and magnificent in terms of scale, location and history.
I liked everything about this property .. location is worse than wonderful, clean, restaurant is delicious and not expensive, parking is free !! And not far from Madrid ( you need to have a car as there are no transportation between the property and Madrid ) easy access late in the night if you party or stay late at Madrid .. very well organized and a warm reception
It was a unique experience and I’d recommend it for that. Do it for the opportunity to explore the grounds, the building and have an idea of the remoteness and spartan existence of the young men who went there before. The building was kept immaculate, plenty of parking, decent breakfast, but get there early because they don’t replenish the offerings. The rooms are cozy and warm; windows open if you need a breeze. Extra blankets available and everything was spotless. Hall bathrooms offered privacy and were kept clean at all times.
The place is amazing ! Unique experience. Don't expect for a luxury room, the idea is simplicity, it is a monastery after all. The heating was very good, the shower very small, but clean.
Highly recommended for retreat.
The entrance to the Basilica is free for the guests (must visit).
