La Casona Monsante, Перу

La Casona Monsante is a renovated former mansion type home in the colonial Spanish tradition. In the dining rooms the walls retains the original woodwork adorned by beautiful paintings. We requested a quiet room in the back. Our room overlooked gardens that were lit at night, and it was very quiet. It's a lovely facility. It is family run and the family are gracious and attentive. It is well located two blocks from the Plaza del Armes near the Cathedral on a street designated for walking without vehicles allowed. Our room was quite spacious with cathedral ceilings and a fully renovated bathroom with hot comfortable water for shower or bath. The breakfast option included American style with eggs, cheese, toast, rolls, coffee and a variety of fresh juices or Peruvian style with a delicious grain rice type dish with pork which was quite flavorful. We were very pleased with this accommodation.

The hotel was in a great location for restaurants, shops and tour agencies and less than a 5 minute walk from the central square. The beds were very comfortable and the shower was hot. The best thing about the hotel was the staff. I had lots of problems with my luggage which didn't arrive and they made many phone calls and sent many messages to help me get it back. They couldn't have been more helpful or kind and, as a result, my luggage was waiting for me on my return to Lima.
