The location of the property was lush, and the old pubs charm was even better

Although this is an inn with a very good bar, snug & restaurant, its unique selling point is that it is on or near some of the documented walks in the area (ranging from comfortable to challenging) and there are several printouts available for free near the WiFi hub. We stayed for a few days during early Summer (With Lord Luka the Labrador) it has 20 rooms and the place was busy. The friendliness and helpfulness of the staff, quality of the meals, and room comfort would make this place a success whatever it was, so it is obviously well managed. Great views from the beer garden and being only a few miles outside Lynton and Lynmouth it is convenient as a base to see the area (but some of the roads are very narrow and often steep, very STEEP). There are at least 2 very good NT properties (by car 20 mins West and 30 mins East)

The Blue Ball Inn has such a charming, historic atmosphere. It was really comfortable and clean and offered everything we needed. You could almost feel the history and the many stories that it must've witnessed. Breakfast and dinner are also great and delicious and they offer vegetarian meals as well :-) And the surroundings are just beautiful, you have an amazing view from the terrace. They also offer a lot of information about hikes and walks in the area and have free parking there.

We stayed here on our way from Cornwall to South Devon for 2 nights. We had bed & breakfast and the breakfast was really good, there is a buffet plus a choice from the breakfast menu. We ate in the pub both nights and that food was also really lovely. All the staff were friendly and welcoming without exception. The icing on the cake for us was that we were traveling with our small dog and she couldn't have been made more welcome in all aspects, there wasn't anywhere she couldn't go which was really nice. There are dog water dishes and treats dotted all around. We will definitely be back, the location is perfect for walking and visiting all areas of Exmoor. We recommend 100%
