Clean room, cute little place, good bicycle storage, good somewhat interesting food on the dinner menu, cute town, very close to Housesteads and Vindolanda.

The Bowes was wonderful! The ladies there were incredibly friendly and helpful! The room was very nice and the bathroom and shower were great! Morning breakfast was delicious.

A friend and I were hiking Hadrian's Wall, aiming for Sycamore Gap/Once Brewed with the goal of getting dinner at Twice Brewed before we headed to the Bowes Hotel. Time got away from us, and we realized we weren't going to make that work before kitchens everywhere closed down. I called the Bowes and the owner, Ian, graciously offered to pick us up. He really saved our heinies after a very long day of walking. On top of that, even though the kitchen was technically closed, they cooked us some burgers and fries (which were amazing!) and were just immensely gracious to two weary travelers. Breakfast was likewise amazing. The staff were so friendly and helpful. The room was large and comfortable. Also, because rideshare services are a bit limited in that area, Ian took us back to the wall for a small fee. I stayed in several places in the UK on this trip, and the Bowes was the best.
