Great breakfast! The room (upper floor) was quaint but they made the most of the quirky medieval space and it was quite comfortable and enjoyable, and having an en suite room was architecturally impressive. Friendly staff, too.
The hotel was right down from Abby and the bishops place. It was above a restaurant bar in a very old building. Although my room was small, it had such a charm! The ceilings were slanted, and the old dark wood beams ran throughout the room. It was a little warm at night, however, they had a fan which kept me comfortable through the night. And the room was quiet.
Breakfast was wonderful and we loved the location (above the pub). Staff was so friendly and we felt like family immediately. The twice weekly market was in the square just outside the hotel and was really an added bonus!

Full of character. Great central location BUT beware Wednesday which is market day and makes access to the Crown very difficult on a first visit.
Remarkably quiet and well soundproofed for an ancient building.
Excellent top notch breakfast. Cooked to order. Large pot of lovely HOT tea.
