No breakfast no icemaker staff not always available. Very old building with very luxurious remodeling of rooms. Outside porch very nice. Entrance stairs pretty steep.

We arrived late and had an easy after hours check in process. The room was large, comfortable and very clean.
We took a little walk in the morning and discovered the excellent Essex Shipbuilding Museum--Don't miss it! Coincidentally, we took a ride on the Schooner, Ardelle, (Maritime Gloucester) the night before and discovered it was built right next door to the museum by HA Burnham. A great package tour for the weekend.
The location of this Inn is outstanding. We loved sitting on our private deck, or down by the river on a lounge chair, and watching the boats on the Essex River. Beautiful!
Location!! Gorgeous river view from the deck! Really nice bathroom/shower. Nice ambiance!!
