This was our second stay in this hotel. As on the previous occasion the friendliness of our hosts was very notable and welcolme. The meal was very enjoyable and reasonably priced. This is certainly somewhere we will continue to come back to.
The host greeted us with a friendly welcolme. He suggested the idea of set menu of the day which turned out to be excellent and very reasonably priced. Breakfast of a bolied egg, croissants and pan aux chocolate was very good and was served with the best traditional french breakfast cafe aux lait I have sampled for many years.
This hotel is perfect if, like us, you love 'la France profonde'. It's simple but very, very peaceful: despite being located on a crossroads there was hardly any traffic at all, day or night. Stunning views from the terrace at the back. The patron was very kind and welcoming, he made us feel quite at home. He and the chef were able to accommodate my 'no duck for supper, please' request! If you need a restful, no-frills nightstop in the heart of the French countryside but very close to the A71 autoroute, you will not go wrong with La Croix des Bois. We will certainly return when we can.
Location was spectacular. eve from the terrace was brilliant. and also I liked that there was a set menu for dinner. it was nice quiet and cozy
Very welcoming lovely little place out of the way. Much better than a roadside motel on our way down to France. Absolutely delicious food and wine in the restaurant and very reasonably priced. The owner was a lovely man.
