Staying at Hostal Tulio Porteno was a little like going back in time to an era when commercial transactions were more authentic and personable. By the end of our 4 night stay, we felt as if the owners (Anais & Matias) were our friends. From the fresh breakfasts where everything was homemade (even the bread, yogurt and granola!) to the New Years Eve Party that they hosted (with full view of the famous Valparaiso fireworks) to discussions about tennis and Chilean literature and even the frequent visits from their delightful cats, we felt at home at Tulio Porteno. Anais and Matias provided great tips and recommendations, always checked in on us and our needs and indulged me while I practiced my not so great Spanish! I think that we got a real sense of what it is like to live in Valparaiso that we would not have if we'd stayed somewhere else. I hope to stay there again sometime!

I had an amazing experience during my stay. From the moment I arrived, I was welcomed warmly and felt right at home. The bed was incredibly comfortable and I slept like a baby. The shower was great, with excellent water pressure and temperature control. The interior of the place was beautifully designed and added to the overall ambiance. The food was absolutely delicious and exceeded my expectations. The people who hosted me were incredibly kind and welcoming. They went above and beyond to make sure that my stay was enjoyable and comfortable. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for an incredible experience.

Very homey vibe with an artistic feeling, warm and friendy hosts. Breakfast put together from homemade products was delicious!
