That was one of the most unusual hotels we have ever stayed. It is run and looked after by the nuns. Don’t get me wrong, they are the most amazing people to have a conversation with. Alcohol is available instantly via a honesty scheme. There is a lovely communal lounge where we managed to watch the football and even ordered a takeaway. Stunning views. Rooms were comfortable and breakfast was excellent.
Spotlessly clean, everything in working order. Breakfast is amazing, better bread than Gail's :D Architecture is beautiful and there's always someone playing something beautiful on piano at lunch time. Nuns are cute. My room had beautiful views of ilanz and mountains.
The staff were friendly. Dinner was a hearty lasagna, which we really appreciated after a day of cycling. The dinner was reasonably priced by Swiss standards. We had a double and a single room. Both were clean and well-designed to make the best use of the space. Our beds were comfortable. There's secure bike parking.
The rooms offered comfortable, basic accommodations. We were welcomed by name by several sisters, whose average age is 80 years old. They made us feel comfortable and welcome. The breakfast and dinner were basic menus with drinks (wines or cokes) at extra cost.
Food was very good. Staff and nuns very helpful; at dinner the Reverend Mother (I assume) came and spoke to each guest about where they came from and whether everything was to their satisfaction. The single room was not luxurious but a decent size and fully functional. The shared toilet / shower was always vacant. Good value for money. The location was convenient for my purpose, close to public transport, with a nice view over the surrounding landscape.
