A comfortable and clean place. No breakfast or restaurant, but the very friendly owner showed us several options and suggested a wonderful bakery in Xanten where had a great breakfast. (There is also a kitchen at the guesthouse if you want to cook your own food.)
I liked that they had a whole kitchen that every guest can use and a living room with a kicker
I stayed at Haus Gretchen Alpen during my 18-day solo ride along the Rhine and my stay was almost at the end of the trip. I arrived early and ate lunch outside in the grounds of the hotel in a nicely laid out garden which has tables and chairs. The kitchen facilities were very adequate and the dining / living room inside was spacious and comfortable. The hosts were very welcoming and pleasant and the hotel generally had a a very nice ambience. The bathroom was clean and spacious. The location was convenient for getting to Amsterdam by bike in just a few days and the house sits on agricultural land near a beautiful stretch of countryside. I'd certainly recommend a stay here and would come back if I'm traveling this route again.
The host was really sweet and cooperative by extending the checkout time by half an hour.
