Georgios our host was always practical, helpful and kind. There’s a rather daunting flight of steps at the entrance and he was happy to summon his son to assist with luggage, up and down. The view across the port from the balcony room was wonderful; always something fascinating coming or going. Staying there, you felt like part of the fabric of the port.

Could a hotel be any sweeter or better located? We stepped off the ferry and were inside the hotel in less than a minute—literally! Yorgos welcomed us with a warm smile and was incredibly helpful throughout our stay. The hotel has a charming, authentic vibe and is perfectly situated right by the port. The beauty of the island, the cicadas singing, and the peaceful atmosphere made us feel like we could spend the whole summer here. Thank you for an unforgettable experience!

No breakfast, but coffee, orange juice, bottled water and some snacks are free in the lounge room on the second floor. Where people can hang out and watch the world goes by around the Hydra port. The owner George was very friendly and help us carry the luggage to our room. He is always around to help.

Wonderful location just steps from the ferry drop off. Means no hauling luggage over cobblestones. You do have to carry it up one flight of stairs though but that was pretty easy. Rooms are basic but comfortable and the mini fridge is very handy for storing water and snacks. Nice complimentary coffee and juice upstairs in the common room with a beautiful balcony overlooking the port. Biggest downside is the bathrooms with their absolutely tiny showers. But water pressure was good and hot water was plentiful. Just be prepared going in that this is not a luxury bathroom. But I am sure the room would be twice the price if it was. The owner George was extremely nice and helpful, always remembering my name and giving me extra water to take on my hike. I would stay here again.

The double with the private balcony can't be beat. Great view across the harbor for people- and boat-watching, or contemplating the way the light changes from hour to hour. The room was perfectly fine, the bed was comfortable, the bathroom newly redone (with soap, shampoo, slippers, etc.), and ... back to the balcony! Honestly, that is the #1 reason to stay here. Hotelier George was super welcoming and very helpful, with tips on good places to eat (though I never found snail pies). I liked that there is a common space with indoor and outdoor seating (another balcony) and self-service coffee, tea, and juice at all hours. Big meaty breakfasts can be found outside on the quay, or nice stuff at the bakery ten steps away. So, if you want something fancy, you should probably look elsewhere, but otherwise it's a wonderful getaway.
