Located next to Schackenborg Castle in the picturesque village of Møgeltønder, this inn dates back to 1687. It offers free Wi-Fi, tastefully decorated rooms and both a gourmet and a la carte restaurant (seasonal). You can enjoy coffe and cake in the afternoon after a short walk in the gardens, or a drink in the evening. Each individually furnished room at Schackenborg Slotskro has electric kettle and a private bathroom. Hotel rooms are spread over 3 buildings. Our 7 suites are located at the end of the castle street. There is only TV and mini-bar in our newly renovated suites. The restaurants are very popular, and dinner table reservation is required subject to availability. Tønder town center is 2.8 mi away, while the North Sea coast and Wadden Sea National Park are 6.8 mi from the property

Location is great and the room that we got was very spacious and lovely - we loved the old school vibes! The bed was super comfy with fluffy pillows and warm covers. I appreciated the option to open windows and the blinds as I like to sleep in the dark.
Breakfast didn’t have tons of options but all the staples were available; eggs, sausage, bacon, rolls + yoghurt and cereal and fresh fruit. No fresh juice but bottled drinks in several flavors were pretty good!

Beautiful furniture. The room was small but comfortable. We had everything we needed.
We loved the location and the gorgeous buildings in the old parts of Møgeltunder where the kro is located.. Great area for walks, especially when the weather is on your side. The Schackenborg castle is next door. Our room was located upstairs in a qute house next to the main building. The room was petite but still spacious, considering the time when the house was built. The bathroom was well equipped with toiletries, and it had a bathtub. The breakfast was extraordinary with a good spread from local producers as well as other Danish foods. Lovely porcelain and ambience. The staff was very hospitable and friendly. Especially the staff at the time for our arrival when the reception was closed. They had to leave their duties at the restaurant to give us the things missing in our room as it was only set up for one person. A minor error, but they really got out of their ways to set it straight.
The garden was lovely as lovely as well.
Interesting location very close to the Schackenborg castle, which is worth a visit. The hotel has nice, spacious room. The dinner room is beautiful. The service is personal yet professional. However the best part is the food: our nine course dinner was fabulous.
