This island property is along the Arctic Circle, next to Grímsey Airport and 25 mi off Iceland’s northern coast. It offers a restaurant, guest lounge and free public area Wi-Fi. Guest house Básar’s simple rooms have shared bathrooms. Guest can have tea or coffee in the communal kitchen or relax on the terrace. Laundry facilities are also available. Bird watching, sailing and sea angling are popular area activities. A fishing license is included during a stay at Básar Guest house. A public swimming pool and 3-hole golf course are also found on the island.

The owners go beyond expectation to make sure you are welcomed
Such wonderful hosts, so kind and generous. Excellent breakfast. Great ocean views and as a bonus, whales! We were lucky with mild relatively dry weather.
We really do hope to come back.

We absolutely loved our stay here. Gagga was at the ferry dock to pick us up and had delicious soup waiting for us at the house. The house was very clean and comfortable. We brought our own food for dinner but Gagga did offer to cook for us. She had breakfast ready for us in the morning. You can easily walk to the arctic circle sphere from the house. The airport is next door (there is not frequent air traffic so it is not noisy). We would love to return here someday.
This guesthouse on Grimsey Island is run by an exceptional family. We were picked up at the ferry with our luggage and transferred both directions. Once on the island they will drive guests a short distance to town, or the lighthouse. No car is necessary while on Grimsey Island. Breakfast was good and were the public areas.
