Fantastic location. Our host kept in touch to make sure we were ok. All the main sites are within walking distance and it's in the heart of the historic part of Cuenca.
Very homely apartment. Clean and tidy with everything you need for a short stay. The welcome chocolates were a nice touch.
Fantastic gastro pub just across the street. The Piola has amazing wines. Give it a try. Also free parking just up the street.
This very large and spacious apartment was just a few steps up from the main square and through an arch. It was walkable to everything. The kitchen had all you would need including a kettle, washing machine and tumble drier. The bus from the train station is €2.15 and runs just once an hour from end of September. As we were staying a few days we chose to get the bus down to the Mercado and back for supplies as there isn't much in Cuenca. There is a small mini market that has a fridge stocked with beers and wines. (they had a fantastic Sauvignon Blanc with a Lap Wing on the front, others had different birds but this was fabulous for €5 ). Shops close 3.00pm-6.00pm. Rather than walk up Calle St. Pedro to get to the castle I would advise going one street back to Julian Romero as there are fantastic views from the Miradors. NB it is free to go into the Hanging House that is an art gallery.
We had heard great things about Cuenca and finally decided to visit. We found this property online and decided to book it. It did not disappoint us! It is right in the middle of the historic district surrounded by restaurants, small shops, and access to scenic views. It was nice to spend the morning sightseeing, return to the apartment for the siesta, then go back out in the afternoon.
We traveled with a family of four, so our 11-year-old son slept on the sofa bed. He said it was the most comfortable sofa bed he had ever slept on. The apartment was clean, comfortable, and nicely decorated. The owner was not in town but arranged for someone to meet us. He also sent a message to check on us after our arrival.
We would definitely return to Cuenca and rent here again if it is available!
The location is very good between the market place and the other side of the old town. Buses run from the train station (old and new) to the market square in old town. We have not been in the new lower town at all. There are several great restaurant options in the street and small convenient stores close by. The apartment itself is as the pictures show and very comfortable. The lady who met us at the door very friendly. English explanations are available inside and the Wifi is strong. We were more than happy with our experience and Cuenca is an amazingly beautiful town!
The location, view and common areas were highlights.
