Clean and comfortable rooms. Friendly front desk staff. Since we were going to leave early before breakfast started, they were kind enough to have a packed breakfast for us at 5 am. Very nice attached restaurant as well as cafe.

Right on the Camino. After nearly 2 weeks of guesthouses, shared apartments and hostels it was very nice to be in a real hotel. Even though the Hotel Scala is one of those old places with faded carpets and long hall ways with dozens of rooms all exactly the same it had good a/c which was wonderful after days without it in the Spanish heatwave and there was lovely crisp linen. My room was right down the end of a hallway and very quiet. Okay food in the cafeteria with extensive kitchen hours.

The hotel was beautiful. Some reviews said it was run down but I found it to be lovely. Historic. Clean. We were exhausted after a day of walking and it was wonderful to have an air conditioned room with a large shower right on the Camino. The cafe downstairs served sandwiches and burgers if you want to eat before the dinner hour. The food was very good. The room was large and clean.
