Great location, beautiful hotel with a huge bedroom and lake view balcony. Very friendly and helpful staff. Would definitely recommend staying here.
Taxi definitely needed if arriving with luggage, as hotel located up quite a steep hill.
We had a great stay at this iconic location! We stayed in a room facing the lake with a scenic and unforgettable view, greeted by friendly staff and it’s quite close to Menaggio promenade (note that is possible to walk up there but with a suitcase it’s a bit unconfortable but the going down is easy)
Large rooms with the best views! It is a 120 year old building with lots of impressive improvements. The walk up hill was worth it and the location is very close to the ferry. The breakfast is just enough and the coffee delicious. This property exceeded expectations.
We were late arriving due to transportation problems. Hotel staff not only graciously accommodated our late arrival, they offered a late meal in our room as we did not have time to stop for dinner and local restaurants were closed. Their kindness turned the worst travel day in memory into a good feeling of being taken care of. The rest of our stay was very pleasant. Menaggio is a wonderful town, not as touristic as Bellagio and Varenna, so you feel like you are in Italy. The hotel breakfast is good. We took a day trip by ferry to Bellagio, which is lovely, and had a nice lunch. It was nice to be able to return to the hotel for a simple dinner. I wish we had a little more time to walk around Menaggio and to check out the local restaurants. It felt like Varenna did when we stayed there 30 years ago.
Our stay was nearly perfect. The room was large and clean with high ceilings and much charm. Our view from the balcony was spectacular. The hotel breakfast was very good in a comfortable room with a beautiful view. Dinner and/or drinks and cheese are offered. The hotel stood out as unique and memorable, in a rare combination of quaint and luxurious. Parking was free and handy. The only facts for guests to keep in mind are that there is no elevator and the walk to the hotel from town and the ferry is a few minutes up a hill. Neither of these are true negatives as the hotel would not be as special with an added elevator ruining the historic design or the peace and view of the location being affected were it right in town.
