As others indicated, the building isn't much to look at from outside, but inside is wonderful! There is ac, but electricity is also limited by a meter at the door. It was a little bit hot at night because you can't leave the ac on all night or you'll use up electricity. Regardless, bed was comfy, shower hot and nice, and location is great. Amazing BBQ across the street and a very safe neighborhood. Also excellent breakfast place around the corner run by a very sweet woman. Albert, who met us and checked us in, is an absolute doll. He's extremely sweet and helpful and for him alone we'd stay here again, but the room itself was solid, too

Being at Rafiki was a breath of fresh air. It is small and well-kitted for 1-2 nights in a busy area of Mombasa. It acted as a good base as I conducted my activity in Mombasa. The building may look grubby, but the area is safe and easily accessible. Thayu is a great, fun and kind host.
