This really is the best place to stay on the Kenyan coast. It's not fancy, but it's a fantastic place in a perfect spot right next to a gorgeous stretch of beach. I live in Nairobi and have stayed at lots of places on the Kenyan coast, and the Watamu Beach Cottages is my favourite by far. The staff were friendly and helpful, the bungalow was beautiful and comfortable, and the viewpoints (where you can sit and enjoy the view of the ocean) were amazing. And the snack bar has great food! I'll definitely be back.

Fantastic place to stay right by the best part of the beach in all of Watamu (seriously, people come in droves by boats every day at low tide just to hang around the beach in this area but it's not bother and only at low tide). Great kitesurfing school as well! We loved it and the pool is family friendly and the vibe is chill - what's not to like!

The Villa Topaz has an amazing view of the ocean. The location is great and a quick ruk-tuk ride to the town. The beach is a 1-minute walk from the villa.

The staff is amazing, warm and welcoming. The food is delicious.

I also hired the private chef David a couple times and the dinners were scrumptious. I ate octopus practically everyday.

The monkeys came to visit me and are hilarious.

I’m a woman traveling solo and I felt very safe and looked after.

Pretty cottages very close the beach, at a reasonable price

Simple yet efficient. The kitchen had everything we needed for cooking and food prep. Great beds. Nice pool. Nice restaurant.
