I recently stayed at the Viva Hostel located in Bishkek Kyrgyzstan for about 2 1/2 weeks and was thoroughly impressed with my experience. The rooms were and clean, and the bed was extremely comfortable. The staff were all friendly and helpful, and went out of their way to make sure I had everything I needed. The manager, Manat was really understanding and she spoke good English. She actually made meals for me at my request because I wanted to try a home-cooked authentic cuisine and she charged me very little. The hotel's location was perfect as there were many restaurants, electronic stores, and shopping close by within walking distance. The cost of my stay was very reasonable. Overall, I had an excellent stay at this hotel and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area.

(I lived not in a common room, but in a private one) It's pretty cheap albeit really expensive. Next time I visit, I will look into getting a complete apartment from a private landlord, probably pay the same money, but will be way closer to the city center, and have a kettle and a fridge. The staff and residents were friendly. Horrifyingly bad location. The city center is barely reachable on foot, the hostel is located near the Osh Market, which is a cesspool of street vendors, masses of people and terrible smell of lowest quality kebabs being grilled all over the street. Also, in 2 weeks time, not once the staff has insisted to enter my room to clean it, I literally had to ask.
