You really feel like a part of the family at Posada los Reyecitos. Everyone was absolutely wonderful and their family compound was lush and inviting and it was a fun experience to see what life was like in their village. The family was really sweet and will help you with any of your travelling needs and since I was travelling solo by train they arranged a Tuk Tuk for me to get to and from the cenote. The cenote was absolutely beautiful and I had it all to myself for awhile and enjoyed floating and watching the spider monkeys and butterflies and listening to the birds. Speaking of birds Miguel Colorado has a great number of turkeys which is different and fun! Anyways I would highly recommend Posada los Reyecitos and will absolutely be staying there again in the future.
The wonderful hosts make this posada a magical stay in a small pueblo. The extended family is enthusiastic, warm, and kind. The meals they prepare for their guests are extensive and delicious.
The location was easy to find with Google Maps. It is a small village in rural area. Perfect if you don't like tourist hotspots: a complete immersion in the local life. The rooms are individual little houses with a bedroom and bathroom. It is very basic, but the most important things are there: toilet (without toilet seat) and shower (not sure if hot water worked, we didn't tried that). The ceiling of the bathroom as quite low, about 1.80m. Beds (2 beds of 150cm x 200cm) were very comfortable and the AC worked very well! There is even a TV in the bedroom. The host family was super friendly and they made an excellent breakfast and dinner.
Few important things:
- Take some Spanish classes, so you can communicate with the family. It's very interesting and fun to interact with them.
- Don't forget your mosquito repellent! It's a rural area.
- Again, it's rural area with rural sounds. Be prepared for some 'noise' crowing roosters, turkeys, barking dogs etc.
Very friendly people! Nice breakfast as well. Comfortable, good for a one night stay if you’re on the road.
