Location extremely central to everything. Wonderful staff for the hotel the coffee shop and at the bar. It’s a 99 year old hotel. Loved the old world charm
I liked Oban as the centre of all things special about Rakiura/Stewart Island. The location of the hotel is excellent & can be seen & walked to from the ferry wharf. Looking out at the harbor from the hotel is wonderful for sunrise & sunset, a pristine little harbor. I didn't heed the warning to advance book (prior to arriving to the island) for dinners at the restaurant so didn't get to enjoy a meal there but had a chowder in the pub - really good. There are nice walks from the South Sea Hotel around the local area, to Golden Harbor (not far) & to see kiwi at night.
The location near the ferry dock & facing the bay is easy & spectacular. I loved the upstairs common room with its fantastic picture window- like a painting looking out. Thanks for putting milk for tea & coffee in the little fridge there.
Dinner at hotel resturant, expectional value, great food, friendly staff and right down stairs from rooms.

Stayed News Years Eve, so booked up early, bar was open all night it was loud and had a great vibe
Showers were clean and hot water for days. no issues with this
View of the water from room where wonderful, HOTEL is the HEART of the TOWN
Great location, good food at the restaurant. We were only managed to get a shared bathroom room. it turns out fine. Bathroom and shower are very clean.
