Room was basic but the bed was comfortable. The kitchen was well equipped for cooking your own meal and that’s just as well because there are no restaurants nearby. It’s a five minute drive to the start of the Balcony walk.
The hosts were lovely and welcoming. The dinner options at the mountain are limited, hence we asked if they had any recommendations. They told us they would prepare dinner, which was easily some of the best food that we had in Oman. Upon arrival they asked if we wanted breakfast and they were willing to be very accommodating with regards to the time (before or after our sunrise hike). Even though we didn't go for the breakfast, it was a very kind offer.
The check out times were flexible, which meant we could take a shower before driving back down again.
We went stargazing at the end of the street, which was very beautiful due to the clear sky and low amount of light pollution.
We drove up here in a 2WD, which was very doable. Just try to let faster cars pass when possible. The last 2 kilometers to the balcony hike were probably the worst part (after having some asphalt road near the hotel area).
Very chill place to enjoy the outdoors and have a bonfire. It was nice to have furniture and a sink etc outside in the garden area. Also it was dark enough to see the stars.
great location if you want to hike the balcony walk at sunrise. The drive is about 20 min. it was very quiet and easy to get to. for 5 rial (yes a bit expensive) you can have an amazing buffet diner nearby at Sama resort.
We got a spacious, clean room with all amenities. The host was warm, welcoming and helped us with access to the kitchen. We got enough blankets, hot water in the taps to keep us warm. It was great to stay at the top of Jebel Shams in the comfort of a home.
