I highly recommend La Ola Azul for a trip to Chicama.
The room was nice and is an excellent value for the price. The private bathroom and balcony was nice. There was plenty of places to store surf gear and luggage. The place is only a block from the beach road, which made it a bit quieter but it's still equally as accessible, as it's only a 30 second walk from the door to the boardwalk.
Carlita was the absolute best host and made sure that everything was perfect for the stay. She helped with recommending any local services I needed. She even went out of her way to help when I lost a tool for my gear and helped get a replacement for the rest of my trip. My stay gets a 10/10 but Carlita's hospitality would get a 15/10.
The staff was friendly, helpful and patient with my spanish. It is just on the edge of town not directly on the beach so you an experience the whole vibe of the locals. I thought it was very affordable to stay here.
Location was perfect, close to restaurants and the main entrance down to the beach. Room was cleaned daily, had everything we needed and was very affordable. The women running the hotel were so nice and let us check in early in the day. Highly recommend and would definitely come back!
about as close you can get to staying at the peak, excellent price, the family running it was more than accommodating. has board racks, hot water, clean rooms, balcony, the works. ive traveled a lot and this was literally perfect
