I have stayed at this hotel around 20 times due to its location and availability of parking. Plus closeness for visiting my family in Croydon. I was disappointed with the member of staff checking us in, advising there was a £20 charge for early booking in. This has never happened in all the years I have used the hotel. Plus there were no notices of advising this charge which she said had only just come into effect. I was with a friend who is disabled who can hardly walk or stand for long. The check in receptionist who saw her then back stepped and didn’t charge us.

The fact that even though the hotel is larger than any one person, there is some flexibility and the 'day' managers can make decision instead of adhering to hard and fast rules. This makes the hotel much more amicable and brings the image to the next level unlike many of its competition Whilst on arrival I was allocated a 'stale ' room that had not been maintained for a few years and clearly looked and smelled tired, upon speaking to the manager I was quickly offered a more amicable room at no extra charge (which I should have been offer in the first place) This certainly made my stay of 5 days possible without any further complaints- However during my original booking I had specified that I may require 3 days extension.. but that was a nightmare - The room was the same but the price was much higher and I now had to pay gbp 10 for each breakfast which was included in the original booking, the more embarrassing incident being turned away from the dining hall even though the extended booking was done with breakfast included Overall I must say the professionalism shown by Ratan and Maher in their addressing the issues was excellent - well done!Only reason I would stay there again
