Had the most lovely stay at the Gages Mill and will 100% be coming back next time I'm in Devon. Kate was the best host ever––so accommodating, sweet, funny and gave great recs! The room was so clean and at night it was super quiet. Breakfast was great and it was so nice having the beautiful yard to walk around in afterwards. The location is ideal––you feel like you're in the countryside but you're incredibly close to Ashburton and the moor! I felt so cozy, safe, and at ease during my stay. A warm, comfortable and cosy space which was perfectly located for our time on Dartmoor & surrounding towns.
Friendly reception by the proprietor. A couple operates the place. Beautiful setting. It is an old mill with stone walls. Quiet rooms. Welcoming lounge. English breakfast cooked with care. Helpful hosts. Good functional bathroom (mixed hot-and-cold in sink, notable for Britain's old inns).
Such a lovely little hidden gem of a place. We were in the area visiting friends and stayed 2 nights in a cosy family room as a family of 3. The room overlooked the beautiful gardens, beds were all comfy, plenty of tea & coffee etc provided in the room. Kate & Nathan were more than welcoming and helpful. Breakfast was fantastic. We ate at the Dartmoor Lodge restaurant for dinner 400m walk just up the road which we would recommend. Great location near to lots of different beaches. We will definitely be booking again next time we are in the area.
