The Bear Hotel is a historic inn set in the charming market town of Hungerford in the heart of the North Wessex Downs. Located within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the property is only 15 minutes’ drive from the M4 motorway. An private bathroom, TV and tea/coffee making facilities are provided in each room at The Bear, and some have balconies which overlook Bear Island. A selection of traditional favorites is served in the on-site restaurant, along with a fine wine list and cask-conditioned ales. There is also a function site which holds 80 guests and can be used for weddings and other special occasions.

Great old coaching inn. Good food in the pub and great service all around. The rooms are as expected in buildings of their age but every effort is made to make them suito-modern. Since the current structures date back to 1700’s there probably all manner of ghosts lurking around but not to worry if you have nothing to hide. Conveniently located to High Street and to the Kennet Avon Waterway with a walking path going in both directions and locks and boats going to and from.
Can’t say enough good things. The food was great. The service great. The rooms were comfortable with great (amazing) showers. Very comfortable beds.

We have stayed at The Bear previously - The hotel is highly recommended for anyone wishing to stay in Hungerford or use as a base for exploring the beautiful countryside around. The Staff Team at The Bear are amazing. Nothing is no trouble. The hotel is dog friendly, and they take care of their four legged guests as much as their human ones. The rooms are perfectly appointed, clean and tastefully decorated.
