The food was just way better than I had expected. I stayed in a lot of pubs while traveling and this one was an unexpected delight.
A very good breakfast. A good location for the Sandstone trail. Excellent staff that made great efforts, so that we enjoyed our stay.
The staff are incredibly hard-working, welcoming and friendly. Undoubtedly the best steak and ale pie I have ever eaten. Huge bath with overhead shower and shower attachment. Proximity to the Sandstone Trail (don’t come off where the book suggests stay on and come off at the nearby church and walk back to the pub - or day 3 will be 16.7 miles).
We were a group of ladies walking The Sandstone Trail. We stayed in the lodge and caravan and they suited us perfectly. Food was good in the pub and staff were very friendly.
