Basic facilities were acceptable for a short overnight stay. Cleanliness: Shared bathroom and WC were clean and hygienic. Convenient for early check-out travellers. We arrived at 9 pm, which is well within the stated Zenhotel check-in window (up to 10 pm). Despite this, we were met with unnecessary melodrama and false claims that the hotel had tried to contact us earlier. There were no missed calls, emails, or messages. It felt like an attempt to shift blame for their own lack of preparation. The male staff member, when I mentioned the below email (screenshot)—possibly the owner—asked for proof that Zenhotel mentioned a 10 pm check-in and said he’d be “interested to see it.”I’ve attached a screenshot for the owner's clarity. Please stop misleading guests by claiming you contacted them via email when no such communication was made. This kind of behaviour is unacceptable and creates unnecessary stress for travellers. Expecting guests to check in before 7 pm—especially during summer holidays in Cornwall—is completely unreasonable. We were on holiday, enjoying the region, and not looking to be rushed back to a hotel by an arbitrary deadline. The whole situation added stress to what should have been a relaxing evening.
