Описание
This historic hotel has first-class food, friendly service and a great location close to North Devon's sights, including Clovelly village and the picturesque Tarka Trail for walkers and cyclists. The Royal Hotel is at the eastern end of ancient Bideford Bridge and close to public transportation. It is easy to explore the center of Bideford and the quayside, where you can catch a boat to Lundy Island. The hotel is associated with the 17th-century Court of Assize and the author, Sir Charles Kingsley, who wrote parts of 'The Water Babies' and 'Westward Ho!' while staying here. At The Royal Hotel, rooms are clean, comfortable and have 24-hour room service. One of the hotel's famous features is the oak-paneled Kingsley Room, with its ornate, sculpted ceiling.

My room was very comfortable, the staff were very helpful, and the food was very good.
Absolutely 1st class, took me in as a lone cyclist arriving 1am in need of some rest and recovery. Looked after me so well. The room was lovely, everything I needed for a good rest before continuing on my way. Staff were fantastic, so welcoming! Highly recommended!
This beautiful and stately old hotel still offers first rate service. Our room was very large, clean and comfortable. The concierge was very nice and helpful. The hotel has a small garage in which we were able to store our bicycles overnight. We didn't have a meal in the fantastically decorated dining room but it was obviously a very popular place for local people to eat.
The food was wonderful and the staff attentive. I would highly recommend staying here.
So historically interesting with information about Charles Kingsley and the military planning of D-Day also the 1800’s jail . Loved the decor and references to the past in the rooms and the restaurant names . Such a lovely ambiance. I was alone but staff made me feel amazingly welcome and comfortable dining alone .
