Have stayed previously but not been in Room 23 before, we were pleasantly surprised as it is of a more generous size than some of the others we have been in. Dinner with family on Sunday was great, also our Breakfast on Monday. Staff (Chris?) were quick to change the room fan, which, on a very hot evening, had made a terrible racket.
The location in Parkgate, right on the front. Loverly decor, inside. Watch the sun set sipping a great glass of wine, sitting outside looking over the Dee estuary and the Clwydian mountains. We walked from Hooton, on the Wirral Way, stayed overnight ( the breakfast was great) then walked to West Kirkby.
Staff are friendly and welcoming. The atmosphere is calm and relaxing. The location is excellent: the views across to Wales and the sunsets spectacular; the "Wirral Way" walking / cycling / jogging paths are close by and clearly signposted. What used to be a fully-worked river (River Dee) is now a bird sanctuary. Nature is everywhere; visitors are welcomed warmly by locals.
In addition to The Ship and its excellent restaurant, there are several pubs, bars within easy walking distance. Parkgate is rightly famous for its ice cream parlours and fish & chips (delicious ;o).
I started staying at The Ship in Parkgate over ten years ago when I started making short visits to The Wirral to visit family. The quality and comfort of what the property offers have improveed consistently over this time.
I will surely stay here again. (And again)
Very warm welcome. Lovely, cozy atmosphere. Excellent shower. Delicious, plentiful breakfast.
They don’t make a big deal about their excellence, but they are excellent.
