We traveled to Mafia Island specifically to see the whale sharks. We went out the first day with a highly rated local tour company and did not see any whale sharks which was unusual. The next day we decided to go out with Hassan, the manager at Maisara Mafia Beach Lodge. Hassan was determined and we did in fact see whale sharks!! Hassan took such good care of us. I was so happy to see the whale sharks but I was getting tired after a few swims so I was content to stay in the boat and let my family continue swimming. After resting a bit, Hassan jumped in to see if it was a good view for me. He came back to the boat and let me know it was a great view if I was up to swimming again. I jumped back in and had the very best time! I cannot say enough good things about Hassan and everyone at the Lodge. They are all so kind and helpful. I also highly recommend the massages at Maisara Mafia Beach Lodge. Thank you Hassan and everyone at the Lodge.

Breakfast was very nice professionally prepared, really wide variety of menu options. Dinner even better the Lobster was world class. The facility was exceptionally clean. The housekeeping staff were polite and professional. Owner was visible, vocal and vibrantly engaged in the business. Excellent value, we plan on returning on a regular basis.

Beautiful bungalows with a huge garden directly in front of the beach. All the bungalows have a big glass front where you can see the garden and at some locations the beach. Incredibly nice staff - try to help and accommodate wherever they can. Could change the room without problems as I needed AC to be able to sleep (March can be incredibly hot and humid). Even came back to the hotel after diving on the other side of the island. Everything seems a bit rustic as first but you will definitely fall in love with it. There is a really really nice gift shop with handicrafts on site - really nice woman from the village, definitely one to support. The locations to the beach is super close and to the left there are two more hotels you can go for dinner or a drink. People all know each other on Mafia and help you with everything! :) Breakfast is great!

Gorgeous setting and fabulous staff! They helped arrange all of our tours, which were phenomenal. Abi was so attentive to our requests and made us feel like we were staying with friends not just guests. I hope to return!

Excellent location, very helpful & kind staff & owner family, they helped us with everything from arranging whale shark snorkling, advising of things to see around the island, arranging for a doctor when I got sick. You can ask for anything and they will arrange for you.
