Breakfast was very nice. Croissants, fresh berries, coffee/tea, orange juice and the most delicious local yogurt. The dining room has an incredible view of the mountains, and the proprietor was gracious and kind. Our flight was delayed five hours and she allowed us to check in late and was most patient with my broken French. We wished we had planned more than a one-night stay. They also have an elevator, which I didn't realize or forgot. It made getting the bags to the room so much easier.The bed was comfortable, the shower strong, and there were plenty of lights and light switches. The decor is modern in an antique building.
Great location in the center of Saint Gaudens, but in quiet corner off main square. Great views and bright, comfortable rooms. Friendly staff arranged to greet us early and accommodated our bicycles. Saint Gaudens had a very friendly and appealing vibe, including renovated streets and a new central gourmet market hall.
Maison de l'Esplanade is well located in St. Gaudens, with a terrace overlooking a valley edged by the Pyrenees. The town feels a bit run down, with many shops closed and streets that are empty, perhaps because of Covid or the general economy. The hotel itself feels like the "old" France, with tall, shuttered windows, uneven wooden floors, and somewhat dim lighting. But there's a charm to that traditional feel, and the bed and facilities are comfortable enough. The manager is friendly and accommodating, including by saving a parking spot for us right out front. The breakfast was simple but sufficient and worth the price. A good place to stay if you're in the area.
Everything. Especially the welcome. We arrive early on bikes in the pouring rain. Madame took all our clothes to dry and made us very welcome
The landlady was exceptional. A big wave of the hand and all your questions were answered. There is the cutest little lift. Fits one person and dog to get to the third floor. Coffee and croissants in the morning were perfect.
