Really clean. I mean exceptionally clean. An older property with decor and furniture to match its age. I stayed in the deluxe double which was a very big room with a small window, but it wasn't dark as the internal lighting was good. Plenty of shelves and places to put clothes and bags. Comfortable bed. Big bathroom, good water pressure. Very nice and helpful hosts. Food was outstanding. Excellent breakfast with some choices. Dinners were really good Sri Lankan rice and curry which were cooked with care and skill. If you ask in advance what the options are you can choose what you want. A variety of curries are served, plus a dessert. I stayed 3 nights and ate dinner there twice as it was great and inexpensive. It is a little out of town on a hill but easily accessible by tuk-tuk or scooter.

Seldom in all of my travels have I encountered a place so welcoming, comfortable, peaceful, with kind hosts and great meals at such a super affordable price. Staying here is a sheer delight, in a quiet neighborhood next to the Mahaweli River in an architectural home on four levels, with lots of space to be as solitary or as social as you care to be. And the home-cooked meals (breakfast was provided as part of the room rate) were simply exceptional, with generous portions and great desserts. Just an outstanding experience!

The hosts are very friendly and the view is remarkable.

Yasith and the family are the most beautiful and welcoming people! I stayed here for over 2 weeks because they made me feel so at home. The food is DELICIOUS (I ate breakfast & dinner nearly every day) and some little extra requests were never too much trouble. I was even given some free business advice from Yasith which was so helpful! If you stay in Kandy I would 100% recommend Lalanga, my room was lovely, clean, and just what I needed. Cute little balcony and incredible value for money. It’s out of the center which is better because you’re away from all the buzz and the walk around the river is beautiful. Thank you Lalanga for such a memorable stay :)

This place is a rare gem!!!

Kandy town is a little hectic but being at Lalanga was like a perfect oasis of clean, peaceful and super kind environment. The family living here have now turn into friends of mine.

The food was excellent, the bathroom perfect and everything was clean and tidy. Beyond that I had a major computer issue while I was here and they came to the rescue and solved my problem. (( so beyond grateful))

If you are ok being 10 mins out of city Center which I recommend, this is a wonderful base to rest while in you are Sri Lanka. 5 stars!
