The staff was very friendly and helpful. The man even drove to the bus station as I couldn't find the bus stop. :) That was very kind of him! :) I also had the dorm just for myself and the bed was very comfortable. The accommodation is very close to a sento, a laundry and a kombini, all within 50 meters from the hostel. Also good location, close to the castle ruins and one of the temples.

Friendly guy at check-in offered us an upgrade from shared dorm room to private apartment upstairs, because we arrived earlier than expected as the Ebino plateau was closed due to snow. The apartment was fantastic, very cosy with lots of facilities including full kitchen with cooking oil, seasoning, crockery and cutlery. Also heated chair in the living room and comfortable mattresses on the beds. Parking right outside the building. Supermarket just 2 minutes walk away and a Lawson next door. Overall a great stay and we wish we could have stayed for longer.
