The staff were warm and friendly but what really stood out was the onsen, which for 150 yen is a real bargain. There are snacks available for purchase at reception. While the hotel and furnishings are in an old traditional style, I didn't mind the retro look as the bed was large and there was a chair for reading.
We really enjoyed the public bath (onsen) experience here, and the location was perfect! The rooms were lovely and clean, and the staff were very friendly!
2 weeks in Japan, and it is so lovely to meet a clerk with a great smile who does her best to make you comfortable !
I enjoyed particularly the fact that I dropped my suitcase before my check-in but when I was back, they had been brought into my room !

A lovely cheap hotel in Takayama which has comfortable and clean rooms. The staff were also very welcoming and friendly. There is a small gender separated onsen which is nice and our only onsen experience. The room was clean and well maintained which is all you need for a short stay in Takayama.
1) The property is strategically located, walking distance to morning market & old town
2) Bicycle and car parking are provided for free by hotel
3) The room is clean
4) Very satisfied with the stay and would definitely come back again
