The Hotel am Museum Koeln is almost immediately adjacent to the Cologne Cathedral, the Ludwig Museum and the train station. We took a taxi to the hotel upon arrival because we did not know where to go, but coming back, we realized we could reach the station by foot in only five minutes despite wheeling our suitcases at the same time. The Rhine River is just two blocks in another direction, with an almost endless choice of waterfront dining options. And in a third direction, the hotel is right at the beginning of an extensive shopping district that rivals anywhere we've ever seen for high-end retail, fashion, luxury goods, and electronics. It goes on for block after block. So, the location is perfect. The hotel itself is small but very personal. The proprietor prepared excellent breakfasts for us - so abundant we literally could not eat all the food. Well worth the per diem price if you want to start the day well fed. The room was comfortable with lots of space to spread out.
