Overlooking Aegiali’s sandy beach, Hotel Vigla is located in the traditional village of Tholaria. It offers a swimming pool with hot tub and comfortable sun loungers, and a restaurant with views over the sea. The bright rooms are built according to the traditional Cycladic architecture. All units are air conditioned and include anatomic mattresses, TV and fridge, as well as a safe and hairdryer. Free Wi-Fi is provided at the hotel lounge. Traditional welcome drink is offered upon arrival. Vigla’s restaurant serves homemade Greek dishes, prepared with fresh local ingredients. The hotel serves a rich, homemade breakfast in buffet style. The staff set this hotel aside. Part of the reason we always return to the Greek Islands is the hospitality but the staff at Vigla have taken that to the next level. Nothing was ever a problem, everything was done with the utmost professionalism all while maintaining a friendly, family feeling. I would recommend this place to anyone and guarantee it will make your holiday better.
Huge thanks to all the staff looking after us. That includes picking us up at the Aegali port , looking after us at breakfast each morning, booking us a hire car at very short notice, right to our 5am transfer to Katapola for the early ferry. (We were even given a take-away breakfast the night before to keep us going.)
I can't fault any part of our stay. The food is great, the bar is great, the hotel should be on your list!
Beautiful, great location, and very kind and friendly staff. One of the staff members went over a whole map of the island with us to show us the best spots and help us plan our few days there!
We had the most magically 3 night stay at Hotel Vigla. From start to end everyone who works at the hotel will exceptional! The matriarch of the family is heading the kitchen and serving up delectable delights using the freshest ingredients from their family garden. The breakfast which is included in your stay was the best I have had at any hotel. Varied and interesting with local dishes and home baked goods. The location is ideal for day hikes to other small villages and also to the port and beaches. The only problem with Hotel Vigla is that at one point you will need to say goodbye. We will be returning next year!!
I booked this property because of the pool, and because the rooms are modern and comfortable. I did manage to get a few swims in, despite the poor weather, and the pool was just the right length and depth to do some (short) laps. I stayed at the hotel at the end of April / beginning of May, so the hotel restaurant was only offering a few simple dishes for lunch and dinner - mousaka, pastitsio, fava, goat stew, etc. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend that you rent a car so you can go to Aegiali for additional lunch and dinner options, and so you can explore the rest of the island. Chora, about 20 minutes away, is particularly charming.
Fantastic location right at the entrance to the village. Enough parking spots. Extremely cheerful and service-oriented staff. Very clean. It is obvious how much care goes into maintaining the cleanliness and landscaping of the grounds. Restaurant has a great view, great food and is a good value. Bed was comfortable.
