One of the friendliest hotels I've ever stayed in! Beautiful building, inside & out, lovely staff, classy decor (we loved the purple touches in room 6), and fabulous breakfasts! We didn't dine in, but there were delicious smells coming from the kitchen, and an extensive menu. Parking is easy, either in the hotel carpark (through the arch) or on the road outside (free). I never had any trouble getting a space. The shower was off a mixer tap, but was surprisingly good, quick to heat up & nice and strong. We would definitely stay again .

My wife and I stayed here last night whilst hiking the Pennine Way and several things stood out for us in terms of the establishments commitment to quality and service. Firstly, the chef is excellent with the food quality being really high but at very reasonable prices. Then, as we needed to leave very early in the morning we asked if we could get some cereals left out for us at 6:30am...but what we got was cereals, hot fresh coffee, and toast courtesy of Janine who starts work early to set up the breakfast area etc. Lastly, the chap who was either the owner or manager (didn't get his name, but he has the same haircut as me....completely bald) was superbly helpful throughout, and I overheard him treating all the other guests with a similar level of professionalism, courtesy, and natural Teesdale charm. Thanks to all the team for a great stay!

Single room small but so comfortable with everything you would need.

Everything! Walking Pennine Way and needed proper bed and comforts after tenting for a few nights!
