The village, the people that live there, everything is so warm and welcoming. The best experience on Crete. The locals showed us the life on Crete. The local taverna is amazing, the food homegrown and unbelievable. This is the place where I will always return to eat an amazing lamb and say hi to these amazing people.

Vafes is a beautiful village off the beaten path. We enjoyed the traditional building with wooden doors and shutters and a great view of the hillside. The hosts taverna was very nice as well.

We loved our stay! It's a very nicely restored old traditional building that now has everything you might need. It has a nice cozy bed, bathroom and even a small kitchen and fridge if you need one. Family that runs these rooms is so amazing and welcoming. They also have a restaurant nearby where you can have breakfast, lunch or dinner and have a real village experience with a mix of a few other tourists and locals. All in all amazing experience far outside of touristy locations, only genuine people and good food. Location is also great for hikers or people with a car who want to explore other nearby villages that are also amazing. Hope we'll be able to come back to Vafes again!

The apartment is huge with its own balcony, living room, kitchen, 2 bathrooms and bedroom. The stone walls and roof give it a really nice feel. We only stayed one night but wish we were here for longer.

Very nice stone house in a countryside village, not far from the coast. The ladies at the reception are kind and helpful, the restaurant has quality food, and it's open until late.
