If you'll arrive at the Marco Polo airport, I'd highly recommend to take Alilaguna water bus. It'll bring you directly to a place, plus you'd enjoy city view from water.
The location of the property was just perfect. It was a 15 minute stroll to St. Marks Square, along the waterfront. As it was very hot the week we stayed, we chose to use the myriad of alley ways to stay in the shade, that added maybe 5 minutes to our walking time, but we got to see so much of this lovely city. As mentioned the property is just of the beaten track, which meant it was very quite in the evening and at night.
