I had a great stay at Golden Shell Residence, first of all due to the kindness of Aki and his family. Unfortunately, my luggage didn't arrive with me, so I had to wait for 2 days until I got it, but the mother of Aki helped me to get all what I needed for these 2 days. If you stay in Golden Shell Residence, then you'll experience a warm welcome and people ready to help you or give you very useful information. It's a place where you'll feel secure and safe. Further, you'll find shops for your daily needs and restaurants just when you get out of the residence. The residence also offers you a very good breakfast for a reasonable price. If you like to travel by public bus, there's a bus station. In case you want to discover the island by yourself, Aki will help you to get a rental car, too. Thank you Aki and your dear family!

We visited Golden Shell Residence in April 2025. It's located in the beautiful peaceful village of Trou d'Eau Douce on the east coast of Mauritius. Small shops, bus stop, cash machine, all is nearby. The small public beach is in walking distance (10 minutes). Nice larger beach is in Palmar (4 km). The accommodation is clean and has a hair dryer, fridge, rooftop terrace, TV... The price is the best you can find on Mauritius. The owner is very helpful and offers you trips to nearby islands Ile aux Cerfs but also tours all around Mauritius and other activities for reasonable price. We forgot something in our room and he was so kind to send it all the way to Europe. Thank you again! If you want to visit the east coast, I would recommend to stay in Golden Shell Residence in Trou d'Eau Douce. Best price, friendly staff, nice village.

Nice place on the east of the island. We were in 2 separate comfortable rooms close to each other. The owner has small turtles. A piece away from here are some great beaches for snorkeling and Liitle island - my picture below.

The host was very friendly and it can be contended that he wants to please his customers. The apartments are well located, with supermarkets and pharmacy just 1 min away by foot.
