This mid-18th century former inn offers unique rooms, free Wi-Fi, and excellent views of Rye. Built around 1750 for local sailors and ship builders, The Hope Anchor is thought to have once sheltered the Tenterden Gang, who used its old secret passages for smuggling. Relax beside the log fire in traditional cozy bar, and enjoy the individually styled bedrooms, some of which have a four poster bed. In the morning enjoy a delicious traditional full English breakfast or if you prefer a lighter continental breakfast of cold meats and cheeses, yogurt and fresh fruit salad or maybe even have both!! all served in our breakfast room. (Please note we do not serve lunches or evening meals) Couples particularly like the location — they rated it 9.4 for a two-person trip. We speak your language! The location was excellent. They have limited parking onsite. We parked in nearby car park. Breakfast was good and gluten free accommodating. Charming, old historic hotel. A good nights sleep.

Very nice host and a homely comfortable hotel, with a cosy bar. The room was lovely - spacious and a great bathroom and shower. Good TV. And a great breakfast the next morning.
Overall, the ambience and the hotel was nice. The location is superb too as you can pretty much walk to all of the tourist attractions within less than 5 minutes (i know it's a small town, but still, they are in the hot area).
