Food in both the bar and dining room was exceptional
best fish and chips that I have ever had,
We loved the history of the building and the village of South Zeals. We also liked the fact that it’s location in a partially unknown area of Devon made it less touristy.
The hotel was steeped in history and well cared for. The staff were pleasant and helpful. The bedroom was spacious and very comfortable and also steeped in history.
You cannot find a more classic beamed place. Gorgeous. Cozy bar, friendly bar. Ask to see the barkeeper’s boat.
My girlfriend and I had the pleasure of stopping over here for a night on our way to Falmouth. We’d debated finding a holiday inn instead and so glad that we didn’t. We arrived around 8 and the owners had called ahead to ask us what food we wanted for dinner and kept the kitchen open late so we could eat. There was a great selection of wines in the pub accompanied by knowledgeable staff who told us about the history of the place. The building was so authentic and had a huge garden with stunning views. The bed was a huge four poster and we had a fantastic nights sleep. The owners and staff couldn’t do enough for us, the kind of place you end up having a drink with the owner in the pub at the end of the night (which we did). Thank you so much for such a lovely stay, would recommend to anyone!
