I stayed for Eurovision, which had events at the nearby Messe complex. This is a straight forward and basic hotel in a fantastic location with surprisingly spacious rooms. I paid an inflated rate for Eurovision week, but this was 'only' double their base price, which was actually pretty good value compared with other properties in Basel. Communication with the friendly manager was clear and helpful. The room was spotless, basically furnished, but well equipped, I appreciated the full size fridge and delightful balcony. it was also extremely quiet which was fantastic. Breakfast was classic German style with meats, cheeses and bread. I was also helped with a very much appreciated late check out.

Hotel Locanda has become my preferred place to stay as I frequently travel to Basel for work. It’s a family run business with a personal touch and warm welcome. The rooms and facilities are very clean and well maintained. The hotel is next to Messe and tram stops, but located on a quiet street. There are many restaurants, street food options and coop supermarket, all within 5 minutes walk. Free bottled water for the guests. Also, the price is very reasonable for Basel.

Well positioned on a side street but next to shops, restaurants and tram stops. Very clean room, bed linen and towels are crisp clean although not new. Plenty of storage space, big desk and fridge, even a balcony. Michael the manager is very friendly and helpful.
