It is in a quaint old town and we are given the entire unit which consists of 2 levels. It is very spacious and elegantly done up. It has a beautiful Japanese Garden too!
This was well worth the extra money vs the usual hotels you can stay in in japan.
The hotel comprises a collection of old town houses that have gardens and courtyards and are in the old town of Ozu .
We had dinner and breakfast included. The dinner was a 7 course meal and we had paired sake. It was outstanding, the chef did a fantastic job with all courses. Probably one of the best meals we have ever had.
The room was actually a two story house with a garden and was spectacular.
Finally the staff were excellent and added to what was already a very special hotel.
Cutest place ever! Old town houses refurbished with great attention to detail. The hotel is not one single building, but rooms/apartements are scatterend around the old part of the town - all within walking distance. There is a lounge with a generous garden to sit, a breakfast venue, an a restaurant nesr the castle.
We appreciated the concept of a hotel chain repurposing historical buildings that may otherwise fall into disrepair because of decreasing populations in rural towns. It seems to have revitalised a lovely town. The units with own private gardens were really special. Unfortunately due to low doorways and stairwell structure in keeping with historical architecture my tall husband kept banging his head. The Club Lounge garden was a sanctuary after a day of walking.
The hotel was fantastic and made the trip to Ozu really memorable, it's really great how they've integrated into the town and made it a destination for people who might not otherwise have come.
