Brilliant! It is literally 500yds from the Duomo - turn left and that's it! The street is mainly pedestrianised, but lively with shoppers. It is a short walk to all the other major sites of interest and handy for both bus and rail stations. The airport is about 20 minutes taxi ride away, and it's a fixed fare of twenty euros + extra for each suitcase/ bag . There are lots of lovely places to eat close by and the best gelato in Florence next door!
The hotel, though a little faded around the edges is kept very clean. I saw no grubbiness in my 4th floor room or shower, and my daughter and grand daughter's room on the first floor likewise.
we were a day late in arriving, but had informed the hotel. We received a charming message back saying not to worry - our rooms were safe, and we were very warmly welcomed by Sabrina on our eventual arrival. When I got lost finding my room, she kindly took me there herself, and gave us all the information we needed about access/ doors etc. She also recommended some lovely restaurants for us to try. When my grand daughter was taken ill all over the bedroom, they were happy to clean up and supply fresh linen and disinfectant for the floor[ thank goodness for tiled floors!] The other staff we met were equally helpful and charming. Full marks.
The breakfast is quite basic. Adequate for us - we are not big breakfast eaters - but limited. The substitution for fresh watermelon for the tinned fruit salad was very welcome. They did warn us that there is no lift to the 4th floor. It is quite a long walk and two staircases climb, but doable if you are reasonably able.
