Lovely rooms, excellent food and drink, friendly and helpful staff, relaxed atmosphere
A hidden gem!what a lovely place!staff were all super friendly and helpful!we decided to use the hotel upon returning to the uk from Spain! It was father's day and the hotel had sold out of food!I'm not surprised it looked fantastic, but the staff helped us order food into the hotel and allowed us to sit with our pizza in the bar! It's a beautiful renovation of an old bar and outbuildings, very dog friendly!Alex the manager is a diamond!it will undoubtedly be a regular stop for us on route to and from Portsmouth!Lovely breakfast which we couldn't fault!and the argentine lady in the restaurant even presented our dog with a sausage lol she's got a friend for life!Thank you so much for the wonderful stay folks!See you soon!
The location, Speen is on the edge of Newbury and was easy to walk around. Enjoyed after dinner strolls. The food was good.
Staff and facilities were perfect. The food and the bedroom - couldn’t have been better.
The ONLY thing - coming from somebody who works with interiors - is please change your white (3000K) lightbulbs to 2700k or warn white as it doesn’t feel homely. Apart from that it’s the best stay over possible and I will most definitely be returning.
We appreciated the welcoming staff, very attractive rooms and convenient location for exploring the area (such as Highclere Castle). Breakfast was very good, and having on-site parking was a plus. Even though it's on a main-ish road about a mile from the historic center, we weren't bothered by any traffic noise. And it was a very easy drive to get to town, the canal, etc. We wish our stay had been longer! Note: we didn't realize when booking our room that it was in a separate building with exterior doors. (Motel-like.) It was fine. There are rooms in the main building, too, if that is important to you for future reference. We'll be back!
