We loved the atmosphere of the hotel; great period decor, an airy courtyard for a cold beer after a hot day of sightseeing, friendly and helpful staff, lovely restaurant terrace for breakfast (which was very generous) and comfortable beds and aircon.

Everything was perfect. The hotel has such a rich history; it truly feels like stepping back in time, making you feel like a genuine traveler. Plus, it’s conveniently close to Kandy station. We would definitely stay here again.

The Royal Bar and Hotel felt like walking into an oasis. Its calm, historic and built around a central courtyard. It was quiet with few bookings and so we appeared to be given a larger room which we were very happy with. As the rooms open onto the courtyard - they are not particularly light. We enjoyed sitting outside our room having a fresh lime and soda and also on the balcony of the restaurant which has windows open to the street, watching the world go by over breakfast or drinks.

This is a special place. So glad they have kept some original style. Many areas to sit and chill, rooms have old school charm.
